Making a Difference in the Lives of Children & Their Families
Fastrack Construction is incredibly active in the Philadelphia community. Owner Chris McElwee is Founder and President of Michael’s Way, a non-profit which lends financial support and services to families with a child suffering from pediatric cancer. He is also Vice-Chairman of Snider Hockey, a nationally acclaimed non-profit serving under-resourced children through extensive hockey programs and educational guidance.
The mission of Michael’s Way is to improve the lives of children with pediatric cancer and to support their parents struggling under the financial strain of such a devastating diagnosis. The organization has raised and contributed more than $6 million to families affected by pediatric cancer since its 2002 inception. It administers and pays non-medical expenses, allowing parents to focus their time and energy on caring for their child.
In addition to being one of Michael’s Way’s largest donors, Fastrack Construction partners with Flyers Charities to remodel homes for many of these families through the “Building Hope for Kids” program. Snider Hockey was founded in 2005 by Ed Snider, a Philadelphia philanthropist and icon. It funds and administers hockey programming plus educational support for more than 3,000 disadvantaged children across Philadelphia and Camden. Through the sport of hockey and the guidance offered by the organization, children learn to make healthy and beneficial life choices, excel in school, and give back to their communities.
Fastrack’s Chris McElwee co-chairs Snider Hockey’s Annual Golf Invitational, its largest fundraising event. Each year, team members from the Philadelphia Flyers join the event and participate on the golf course. The day concludes with a cocktail and dinner reception, including a one-of-a-kind silent auction with unique Flyers experiences.
